Grief's Ash
A downloadable game for Windows
Grief's Ash
You don't put it out. You carry it.
A momentum-platformer roguelite about a child who loses her mother — and the small ember she carries down through the five stages of grief. Each descent is a stage: **Denial, Bargaining, Anger, Sorrow** — and, if you can carry the light all the way, **Acceptance**. Between chapters, hand-made cutscenes tell the real story beneath the ash: two bowls at breakfast, a scarf that still smells of her, a mug that shatters, a long winter, a hearth relit.
**Features**
- A hand-tuned momentum platformer — run, jump, dash, wall-cling, and hold back the dark with light.
- Four biomes across five grief stages, procedurally arranged so no two descents are the same.
- Bosses (including a flying warden), secrets, and a risk/reward economy of timed and cursed caches.
- An original synthesized score — a lullaby that comes apart and rebuilds across the stages.
- Degraded-FMV story cutscenes with their own sound, plus scrollable text — all replayable from the menu.
- **The Arcade of Ashes:** spend surplus Memory Shards on three unlockable mini-games, including a full physics pinball table.
- Three difficulties, from a forgiving *Remembrance* to a permadeath *Hollow*.
**Controls**
A/D move · W jump · S drop-through · SPACE dash · SHIFT cling · LMB fire · E altar · TAB upgrades/help
**A note.** Grief's Ash is a tender story about losing a parent. It's handled with care and bends, always, toward warmth — but if the subject is close to you right now, please look after yourself.
*Original work. Story, art, music, and cutscenes were all made for this game.*
